From our Guest Blogger:
It had taken me a while to move forward with getting a Keratin Hair Treatment. You know -- the one that they called "the Brazilian." This is supposed to make your hair straight but not flat, and it's supposed to cut blow-drying time in half.
I finally did it this week, so I told my friends at Royale Maison that I would chronicle my experience.
So here goes:
You should do your Kertain Hair Treatment right after your color. If you do the treatment first, you have to wait two weeks for color. So schedule accordingly.
Colleen did the treatment for me, and we started by washing my hair twice with a clarifying shampoo that is supposed to get all the product and other daily crud out of the hair. Then we went to put on the product.
The product is not painful to put on, though there is a bit of a fume. It wasn't horrible or unpleasant -- just something I was aware of sometimes during the process. Even though you can't wear a mask over your head -- the back of your hair has to be loose and free for the process, it helped to have a little towel to block the fumes. It helped that we were in a well-ventilated area as well. But if you're thinking about traditional hair straightening processes, don't worry. No burning, no itching...
It was kind of like having an all-over color put on.
After the treatment is applied, I waited fifteen minutes so that the Keratin Hair Treatment could do its magic. Then Colleen dried my hair completely with a blowdryer and a paddle brush, and then -- this is where the time-consuming part comes in.
The hair has to be flatironed in teeny-tiny sections over and over -- like seven times for each section. This takes a while, especially if you're like me and you have a lot of hair. But since the Royale Maison team had talked to me in advance about the time is would take to do this process, I was well-prepared.
When it was finished, my hair looked great! It was straight but not flat -- just as promised! It also felt really, really good. Do you remember that Japanese thermal treatment everyone was doing a few years back? THAT made your hair feel papery and unnatural, and it left the hair dull and with no shine at all. The Keratin Hair Treatment made my hair -- so far -- look really shiny and healthy.
The protocol says that I can't get my hair wet or do anything to it for three days. Crossing my fingers that it doesn't rain!
OK -- the deal is that in three days' time, I will go back and get my hair washed and styled, and then I have to use the special shampoo and conditioner on my hair.
I'll let you know how it goes!

The Chari Tea - Tomorrow in Colleyville!
Royale Maison is proud to be a sponsor of the Chari Tea, which will be held tomorrow at Colleyville Center.
Julie Bird of the Cornerstone Wealth Strategies, LLC established the Chari”Tea” in 2007 to provide a platform where local women business owners could network and grow their business. That first year there were four business sponsors and 50 guests. By 2009, our numbers had grown to 26 sponsors and nearly 300 attendees.
This creative event is centered on helping women to grow their businesses. Many new clients have been established during the course of the event as well as a new network of business associates. The Tea is unique in that we have only one representative per industry so that we can more effectively highlight sponsor companies without competition from other businesses.
A secondary goal of the Tea came about as a result of Julie’s passion to help the local community. All proceeds from the event are donated 100% to the Grapevine/Colleyville chapter of Students Standing Strong.
We are proud and excited to be a part of this worthy event!

Spring Hair - Love the Season!
Royale Maison fans - it's time for spring!
Even if we can't count on Texas weather (who knows what will come tomorrow?), we have just passed the Official Opening of Spring in Texas - Easter. That means linen and white shoes are back - and that it's totally time for a new spring look.
Don't greet the warm weather with a ballcap and shamed expression! Let's get those neglected locks looked after!
Go Versatile with a Short Cut
Old-fashioned thought was that short hair provided limited options. However, thanks to excellent styling products from Kerastase, short cuts can provide versatility and charm. There's no question that the right cut will lift your jawline and highlight your eyes - a completely painless mini-facelift!
A variation of a classic bob will give you amazing styles to play with, ranging from smooth and snappy to curly and romantic. For the right face, a super short boy cut does wonders to enlongate the neck and frame your features.
If you don't want to lose your length, play with some longer layers to trim off shaggy ends and modernize your hair's texture and look.
Add Some Color to Your Life
If you want a new look without a cut, try one of Royale Maison's amazing color treatments. We use Davines color - the finest available. Add some summery highlights for that sun-kissed look, or totally rev up your color story with a temporary color. If you've ever wanted to try out a new look, this is the time to do it. Color can help you achieve the appearance and feel of healthy hair and achieve an amazing new look!
Treatment Time
Winter of 2009-10 was really tough on hair and skin. Now that the weather has turned for the better, it's time to do a moisturizing mask. Royale Maison is offering several new custom hair treatments and masques from Kerastase - let one of our master stylists or new talent stylists choose the right treatment for your hair - and ditch that ballcap!
